HOW DO WE WORK?

As soon as someone recommends us a student who needs financial support, Aaghaz asks its members to volunteer for a pre-scholarship/financial assistance survey. A minimum of two volunteers is needed. The volunteer visits the student's house with a questionnaire form based on objective parameters to determine whether or not the students are eligible for financial assistance. The academic record of the students, his/her financial conditions etc are among several key factors, which are taken into consideration by the volunteers. Priority is given to orphans and meritorious students. Once it has been verified, the case is discussed at our meeting and subject to finding of survey; the assistance is granted or rejected. We also find students through schools and neighborhood contacts programs, which are conducted from time to time.

Some Clarifications

  • Aaghaz Educational Foundation doesn't have any political affiliations.
  • No one has any vested interests in Aaghaz Alhamdulillah, we all are doing fairly well I life.
  • Transparency is the key word- Accounts, records etc. can be check any time.
  • There are no personal gains to be made through Aaghaz.
  • The decision-making authority in Aaghaz Educational  Foundation rests with an Executive Council. But it doesn't imply that the Foundation belongs to an individual or a group. We are all cogs in the machine. So you can be as much a part of Aaghaz as we are.

HOW DO WE RAISE FUNDS?

Through generous contributions (Rs.100/- or more per month) from members. Thankfully, we have enough members to keep us running like awell oiled machinery and because the school/college fee of most of our students is sponsored either wholly or partially by some of our members, financial constraint has rarely been a problem.

When a student's case is brought to our notice we raise it in our meetings held once in two months. Case details of students are also routinely posted on the website and invariably someone steps into sponsor the fee of the child for one year under our adopt a child scheme . Aaghaz Educatinal Foundation also accepts Zaka'at

NOTE: Aaghaz Educational Foundation doesn't get any grant/aid from government.

HOW DO WE MANAGE OUR EXPENSES?

In keeping up with our guiding principles, the Foundation doesn't spend a single penny on itself. It doesn't pay any salary/allowance to anyone, as it doesn't have any staff in the conventional sense of the word. All office expenditure, including stationary, postal expense, setting up a website etc. are borne by the members voluntarily.

HOW DO WE MONITOR PROGRESS OF STUDENTS?

By keeping track of their academic performance .

Scholarship is given for an academic session and subject to the student's performance it is extended or withdrawn. Members visit various schools/colleges periodically to monitor their progress. Schools are required to provide student's performance sheet (which indicates attendance and marks percentage) on monthly basis to Aaghaz. Student's given scholarship for higher education are made to sign a moral bond wherein they promise to return the funds (without interest) when they are in a position to do so. The bond has no legal sanctity. A case file is maintained for each student, complete with all relevant records.

WOULD THIS MOVEMENT WORK?

Yes, Certainly.

Our experiment has paid off. Today over ONE THOUSAND students are benefiting from Aaghaz Educational Foundation.
